Ancient Egypt & Atlantis
Have you ever wondered why they were created with the specific suits, court cards, values? Me, too!! Turns out they are a particularly clever hiding place for the sacred language of our lives, and the Cards have a magnificent history.
Back in the days of early Atlantis, perhaps as long as 20,000 years ago, the Ancients created a scientific system that helped them to navigate their lives to more easily create enlightenment, balance, and meaningful, compatible relationships.
In our world, there have always been secret societies, dedicated to hold near and protect sacred truths and mysteries for posterity, and many of these societies stretch back thousands of years. What is currently known as the Order of the Magi has been the protector of the cards’ Ancient Secrets for thousands of years.
Around the birth of Jesus, they were reportedly the “wise men” or “Magi” who travelled afar to visit the legendary nativity with their gifts. They knew something earth-shaking was coming!
For a long time, we had this amazing way we could explain our personal life path, AND we had a new person on the planet to help bring our lives into focus. Sadly, as humans, we sometimes get too big for our britches and one set of folks decides that the other set of folks might know too much. Yes, it is about power, which is WHY we have secret groups.
Back to the Order of the Magi, they figured out that if their extraordinarily insightful book of destiny was going to survive the self-imposed scuttling of knowledge, they had better hide it in plain sight!
And they did...

What does this have to do with Cards of Destiny? |
These clever folks created a deck of cards that has held the basis of the secret language for thousands of years, and because it was so easy to install in homes as entertainment, it survived.
Around medieval times, the Church got wind of the cards’ true history, but found it impossible to destroy all of them, so they introduced Tarot cards with different meanings to be interpreted by intuition and psychic insights. By creating a similar deck to playing cards, the Church created confusion and thereby effectively obscured the credibility of the original meanings. And it almost worked. Fortunately, in the late 1800’s, Olney Richmond was reintroduced to the particulars of the deck, and in 1893, he published the first known book on this divination system of the ancients. It was called the Mystic Test Book, based strictly on mathematical laws and movements of the planets. |
What Else? |
The Playing Card setup is simple, yet elegant in its creation:
52 cards = 52 weeks in a year 13 cards per suit (ace thru king) = 13 annual lunar cycles and 13 weeks per season 12 court cards (kings, queens, jacks) = 12 months in a year 4 suits (hearts, clubs, diamonds, spades) = 4 seasons per year 365 is Total of the card values = 365 days in the year (Joker counts as 5/4 of a day, or 1 ¼ days) |
